We dont have Cars and Coffee in the UK, atleast not to the same extent as in the USA, but Goodwood (who else) does its best to make up for that with 4 events a year, celebrating a different theme each time. This mornings theme was V-Power, so anything powered by a V engine was welcomed, including bikes, 4x4s and some rather stunning exotic metal.
Thanks to Leon711 for the HT about the event, as I had no idea it was on. Perfect way to spend a Sunday morning (plus a cracking drive in my new car, but more on that later....)
Picture Time:
The Lark Mclaren was there, road legal too as he drove it home! Only at Goodwood.
American Metal was very well represented, with everything from Muscle Cars to this old Chevrolet ______ (insert name here) (EDIT: Caprice, thanks MattP123)
And one of two Raptors. For reference next to it is a 7 Series BMW, a huge car for UK roads. And this makes it look like a little toy car.
Side vents - so 80s.
Happy Camero is Happy (EDIT: Camaro, because I can’t spell or read)
There was 3 or 4 AMG SLS in attendance. I know the doors are impractical and stupid, but they are excellent as a piece of excitement and theatre. And who buys an SLS for practicality anyway.
One of probably 8 or 9 Clio V6s in attendance. I believe around 400 made their way to the UK, and around 200 are still running today. So pretty good turnout by all accounts.
Modified Jag was uh, interesting. I liked it, but I am not sure thats a universal opinion.
So many TVRs, so little time.
The Black 350z in the background was fairly well modified under the hood, and looked pretty beasty.
I still have no idea what this is, other than a Nissan. Anyone know?
A Vauxhall (Holden - thanks GM) VXR8. About as close to a street legal Aussie V8 as they come.
In amongst all the modern machinery was this lovely little Daimler SP250.
And the other Raptor. Notice how it really doesnt fit in the paddock covers, like, at all.
Who doesnt love a Lambo or 2.
And in Liquid Yellow this looked epic.
MG SV, another very rare car, and I have never seen one in this shade before. Slightly more interesting than your usual grey or British racing green that these came in.
Plymouth Hemi Cuda (I think) clearly got slightly excited on the way and did a little wee.
White Challenger R/T looks pretty stunning too.
The NSX was well represented, and looks almost understated and subtle by todays standards.
Rat Rod with direct exit exhausts, no idea how this is legal but so glad it is.
You Americans know how to make estates and make them BIG!
Mercury Cougar, a very rare sight in the UK.
E34 M5 which appears to be a track car, I can get onboard with behaviour like this.
Just a Viper Le Mans replica, as you do.
The same engine, but 2 very different approaches.
Italian Stallions made up a good number of the cars there.
Bristol Fighter, made by a company that you can only buy from if they let you.
Boss 302 Mustang. I think you would get out of the way of this if it appeared behind you.
And another Bristol, though I cant identify this.
Lancia Fulvia coupe. Such a pretty, and tiny, little car.
ISO Rivolta, which regularly races. The svelte body belies what is powering this, with a big American Chevrolet Engine.
And a Hell Cat. Parked next to a Rolls Royce Wraith (who are based around the corner, so brought 3 cars down to show)
One of the last TVRs to be made, the T350
Land Yacht Ho!
And a G63 AMG with some Brabus bits. Who needs to offroad when you can simply scare the track out of your way.
Audi Estate, powered by a Lamborghini V10. For when you need to move a family and the dog at 200+mph. EDIT: Not powered by a V10, but a TT 4.0 V8.
Citroen SM, just to add maximum oddness.
A well used R32 Skyline. Great to see this being used as it was intended, rather than garaged and never brought out.
No idea what was powering this, but with a centre exit exhaust, rear tyres at least 8” wide, and a mighty burble when it passed us its safe to say its not the original 1000cc A series engine.
16M F430 Scuderia, and boy have these aged well. Looks epic in person.
What do you if your Aston Martin, its the 80s and theres a fuel shortage on. Why you design a thirsty, expensive and slow 4 door, of course.
Another car that has aged very well is the Vanquish, which looks very muscly compared to the DB9 and Vantage.
Nismo GT-R,
W210 E55 AMG, another car that is a 200mph-ish family car.
And another Citroen SM in brown naturally.
Original AC Ace. Its amazing how different this is to the Cobra.
SL55 AMG. Not a fan of the nose but the noise makes it worth it.
And another NSX. I feel spoiled by seeing more than 1 in a day.
Custard yellow Vantage. Not sure about the wheels, but hey, each to their own.
Great way to spend a morning and with the glorious weather I’d struggle to think of a better way to spend a Sunday.

Something that is also cool to notice is that this is the b-pillarless hardtop version.
Few Japanese car makers continued building hardtops after pretty much everyone else had abandoned the body style until the early 90’s when safety regulations killed them for good.

The Audi RS6 has never had a Lambo V10, it did have a twin-turboed V10 related to the Gallardo engine in the C6 that they stopped making in 2010 (and it did have a top speed around 170ish mph). The one in the picture does however have a 4 liter V8 which have a top speed of 201mph.

I realize that this may not be an “only V-Car” show but there is no way that R32 (I was going to add the E34 but the 540 did come with a V8, so I’ll let that pass), is a V car. Unless they swapped a VQ into it, I’m calling BS.

I think there were a couple of people who took liberties with the entry being Vee powered only. There was an MGB with an I4 that snuck in too, so clearly the Vee police were slacking.
And im pretty sure it was a 540, as there was a chap on Pistonheads talking about it, and saying it was very rare for what looks like a very common car.
